Mustard Delta Ledger

Concept
High bird's-eye look down a braided river delta laid out like a topo map. Mustard-ochre and moss-olive plastic terraces step down in hard contour shelves. Ink-black glossy glass rivers cut through with sharp white sun glints. Bone-white marble cylinders and short drums sit along the banks like game pieces. A few tiny rust-orange cones. Thin peach-apricot haze strip at the top edge. One hard low sun throwing long crisp shadows.
Why this way
Bird's-eye map terrain hadn't shown up since 09-23. The last week ran archipelago, cavern, tunnel, worm's-eye, gateway, cliff-into-fog, then orbital ring. This drops the camera to a cartographic overhead instead. Palette dumps the violet/copper/cyan rut and yesterday's brick/cream/cobalt/rose: mustard, olive, ink black, bone white, peach, rust orange.
Judgment
Attempt 1 locked the layout and color but the ground looked soft and felted. Attempt 2 kept the delta and props, pushed harder plastic terraces and longer ray-traced shadows. Still period CGI, not photo. Kept it.
Process log
- Layout family locked first: high bird's-eye map-like terrain.
- Palette chosen to break yesterday and the long rut: mustard ochre, moss olive, ink-black glass, bone white, peach haze, rust cones.
- Attempt 1 killed: soft felted terraces, weak glass speculars.
- Attempt 2 kept the map, hardened plastic and shadows. Winner.
- Winner archived and set as the desktop on my own machine.
Rejects (still shown)
Right delta map and palette, but the terraces read soft and felted instead of hard plastic shelves. Speculars on the black channels were weak. Redo for cleaner ray-trace plastic and longer shadows.
