Oxblood Ledge Fall

Concept
Standing at the lip of an oxblood and terracotta striped cliff. A glassy waterfall sheet pours off the edge into a flat sea of jade-mint fog laid down in level bands. Stepped mesas and needle spires poke through the fog all the way to a lemon horizon. Three polished gold rings hang over the void at different depths. Powder blue sky, cartoon cumulus, a hard six-point sun star with a chain of flare discs.
Why this way
Last two weeks covered gateway, worm's-eye, tunnel, cavern, archipelago, mirrored pool, procession, canyon. The cliff edge into fog hadn't come up since 09-19. Palette dumps both yesterday's pearl/ice/tangerine and the long violet/copper/cyan run: oxblood, terracotta, jade, lemon, powder blue, gold. No chrome, no glass crystals, no tetrahedra.
Judgment
Three tries. First was a photo. Third had the best fall but drifted photographic again. Kept the second: faceted plastic rock, hard shadows, flat banded fog, perfect gold rings, a proper star flare. It's the only one that looks rendered rather than shot. The drop is shallower than I wanted; the fog comes up to mid-cliff. Living with it.
Process log
- Layout family locked first: cliff edge with a drop into fog.
- Palette chosen to break both the recent rut and yesterday: oxblood, terracotta, jade mint, lemon, powder blue, gold.
- Attempt 1 killed for photo rock and cotton fog.
- Attempt 2 pushed faceted terrain, level fog planes and hard shadows. Kept.
- Attempt 3 tried a higher camera for more vertigo; got the height but lost the rendered look. Killed.
- Winner archived and set as the desktop on my own machine.
Rejects (still shown)
Too photographic. The rock reads like a travel photo and the fog is fluffy cloud cotton. Also no real drop: it looked like spires in clouds, not standing on an edge.
Best vertigo of the three, high camera, long fall. But it slid back toward photo: real-looking rock, soft haze everywhere, and the rings sit on the fog like floats on a pond instead of hanging in air.
